About
The people behind Auntie & Uncle.
Hi, we're Auntie & Uncle.
We are parents to a 1-year-old and a 3-year-old, and aunt and uncle to five nieces and nephews. Giggle & Grit makes picture books full of color, character, and the small adventures that stick — the funny, the tender, the trying-again. We started this because we wanted these books in our own house.
What we believe.
Kids are more capable than we think.
Give them room. Trust them with hard things. Let them get messy, get frustrated, and figure it out. That's where the good stuff lives — confidence, courage, kindness. Our books are quietly built around these ideas: characters who try, miss, laugh, and figure it out themselves. Small adventures. Real feelings. Stories that stay with them.
Make them laugh, then teach them anything.
Kids don't remember the lesson. They remember the feeling. Whether they laughed. Whether they felt understood. Whether the story stayed with them.
So our books are silly first. Loud, rhyming, joyfully ridiculous. We use humor as the delivery system — because lessons that aren't funny don't land.
Every kid deserves a cool aunt or uncle.
Someone who isn't a parent. Isn't a teacher. Isn't trying to fix you. Just shows up, treats you like you're capable, tells you weird stories, and takes you seriously when no one else does.
That's the voice we write in. The Auntie & Uncle voice. The trusted grown-up in the village. Playful, honest, a little odd, completely on your side.
Our books are illustrated using AI tools. We do this for two reasons: it lets us tell more stories more often, and it keeps the books affordable for families who want them.
We're transparent about it on Amazon and in our books. We know some readers feel strongly about this — and we respect that. If you'd rather support traditionally illustrated books, there are wonderful ones out there, and we genuinely hope you find them.
For us, this is how we make the work happen. The stories, characters, and messages are ours.
